Diuretic: Alcohols are diuretics. That means they rob the body of water, by inhibiting anti-diuretic hormone (ADH) from the posterior pituitary gland. This hormone regulates the water balance in your body and is directly affected by alcohols and caffeine beverages. Also, alcohol is causes surface dryness on the tissues. Ever wipe rubbing alcohol on your face? That dry feeling is happening in your mouth.
