Little adaptability : Unlike most other sensations, pain adapts very little & sometimes not at all. In fact, in some conditions, excitation of pain fibers becomes progressively greater as pain stimulus continues (hyperalgesia). The importance of the failure of pain to adapt is that it keeps the person aware of an tissue. Humans can adapt or adjust to deal with pain but pain adapts very little if any & sometimes worsens.
