A member asked:

Should too many ultrasounds be avoided? could they cause miscarriage, especially in early pregnancy?

US only when necess.: Ultrasound (us) is a very safe examination. However, it should be used only when necessary to properly care for the patient or fetus. Why? Us uses high frequency sound waves that we cannot hear, but do have energy. Some us techniques involving doppler to look at blood flow are even more energetic. We do not know for sure what that energy could do to a fetus or embryo, so no us unless necessar.
