No: Peptic ulcers are benign. Most are caused by a bacteria ( h. Pylori). However, some cancers (especially in sto, mach) present as ulcerated abnormalities. Location, size, appearance, response to therapy are all important favtors. Biopsy (tissue sampling) can be very helpful.

HP chronic infection is ass. with --Chr.Gastritis-Peptic ulcer - gastric Ca . Cytotoxin-associated gene A (cagA)-positive H. pylori strains increase the risk . Diet rich in fruit, vegetables and cereals and poor in meat, fat and salt has a good prophylactic potential for cancer.
