A member asked:

My 6month old has a head bigger than normal and my dr is suggesting an ultrasound? what could be wrong and what are the signs.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Hydrocephalus: The ultrasound is to exclude hydrocephalus, large ventricles in the brain. However, most of the time a "big head" without neuro symptoms or development delay is just a big head. Sometimes it can also be from having too much CSF (fluid) surrounding the brain. It is common in infants, goes away as baby grows, and does no harm.
