Normal: The hormones produced during breast feeding, namely prolactin, usually keep you from having periods. The prolactin shuts off the signals to the ovary that tell it to work. The reason for this is simple, a woman's body would have a hard time handling the protein and energy requirements of breastfeeding and being pregnant.
