Lactation Amenorrhea: Lactational amenorrhea ( no periods during postpartum period) occurs when a mother is exclusively breastfeeding and baby is under 6 months of age. This occurs in 98% of women. You might be experiencing spotting if you are not exclusively breastfeeding or the 2% of women who ovulate and have periods. Do not rely on lactational amenorrhea as a form of birth control if you are spotting.
