Not normal: It does not sound normal, but rather product of the abcess, an independent problem or general condition (less likely, but i read "legs going to sleep"..). Compression of a nerve near an abcess might provoke paresthesias, but there is a lot of potential causes. You should consult your dr to clarify it.
