Low EGFR: Your reading is an estimate, that's what the "e" stands for. To see you actual gfr, you need to see a nephrologist (n) and have a 24 hour urine collection (uc) to determine your actual gfr. Depending on the result of the uc, you may need to be followed by a n. It is nice to feel well and if you have chronic kidney disease that feeling of wellness can be helped by seeing a n for your medical needs.

I bet ur just fit: Ask your doc. We have a dysfunctional health care system and one of many problems is a tendency to focus on technology and numbers rather than the physical exam and common sense. The estimated GFR assesses your muscularity by your race (!) rather than by looking at you. Almost all well-muscled, healthy men men run relatively high creatinines and are now being told they are kidney patients.
