Different appearance: Sometimes it can be difficult, but psoriasis and tinea cruris (jock itch) have different 'typical' appearances. Psoriasis is usually patches of reddened skin with flaking, or 'scaling' of the involved skin, it is not as itchy as jock itch. Jock itch is typically red, with small patches and an outline of the rash with a reddened border.
