Usually < 5 or > 0.5: Depends on the normal range for the lab where the test was processed. If it's high or low it should be interpreted in the context of a free T4 and whether or not you have symptoms. People with a TSH that is in the normal range but above 2 may have a higher risk for developing hypothyroidism in the future.

Depends on assay: Every assay has its own reference range but generally around 0.8 to 5 is normal. Must use your own lab's reference to make sense of it. Also, even if TSH is not in normal range, still need to consider actual thyroid hormone levels and your current health status, bc some conditions can cause transient thyroid lab abnormalities that doesnt need treatment ex. Acute illness, tthyroiditis, alcohol.
