Depends: It really depends on the assay used to check the levels. Most assays have a range for example from 0.3-->3. Some have up to 5. Most often there is no need to treat unless the number is > 10 unless the patient is pregnant or symptomatic. For Free T4 you need to see the reference range as it can vary from lab to lab quite a bit depending on the assay used.
