Basilar thumb pain: Could be gamekeeper's thumb, which is a ligament sprain. Could also be occult, or hidden, fracture that will show up on further imaging such as a repeat xray or mri.

Possibly a break: You could have an occult fracture so re x-ray 2 wks after injury may be helpful.
