Tests: "bad liver" can be due to infection, inflammation, tumor, or many other causes. It usually requires a combination of lab testing and imaging studies such as ultrasound or cat scans to determine what problems you have. I recommend seeing your family physician for a workup. In the meantime restricting alcohol, tylenol, (acetaminophen) and other medications which can cause liver damage is recommended.

Labs & Physical Exam: Liver is a large organ with natural ability to regenerate. When this process of regeneration reaches an endpoint you can develop what is called cirrhosis. Infections( hepatitis a, b, c etc), alcohol, autoimmune illness, drugs etc. Can all cause the same end result called cirrhosis. Physical exam with lab results and an ultrasound is a good starting point to evaluate your liver.
