Can you please tell me about damages of having a high pulse rate?

Dr. Mark Rasak answered

Specializes in Cardiology

Cardiomyopathy: If the heart rate remains above 100 BPM for prolonged periods of time ( months to yrs) a decrease in heart function may occur. Usually treatment will restore function but not alwys . An underlying cause for the fast rate must be found and treated as well. Beta blocers are the drug of choice usually but may vary depending on the cause and the pts medical condition.
