Uterus ultrasound: This is more commonly called a pelvic ultrasound. There are two ways to perform it. A "transabdominal" pelvic ultrasound scans the pelvis from an external approach over the lower abdomen/pelvis, and a "transvaginal" or internal scan uses a probe inserted into the vagina. Sometimes both are performed.
