Painful periods: I do not know how pain killers would affect a menstrual periods in terms of intensity. Anti-inflammatories are known to help with period related pain

Some may: Nonsteroidal agents such as Aleve or Advil have mild antiplatelet effects and may cause increased menstrual flow.
