Depends on cause: Musculoskeletal problems can give you shoulder pain (strain, joints, arthritis, etc) but many other things can "refer" pain to the shoulder ( gallbladder, heart, reflux, lung, etc) this means the problem is somewhere else but the brain feels it in the shoulder. Best to see an md who can help you isolate the cause and arrive at a solution. In the mean time, stretch, heat, relaxation r all good.
