Obesity prevalence: Obesity is the second leading cause of preventable death in the us (smoking is number one). Obesity is a killer because it is tied to conditions including hypertension, high cholesterol, diabetes, sleep apnea, heart disease, stroke, etc. So, the higher the prevalence of obesity, the higher the death rate in this country. That is why the prevalence of obesity is important.
