A member asked:

Could it be that my thyroid works in a very irregular way?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Good question!: Typically, it's pretty steady. In the presence of an inflammatory or infectious process, it's possible for the thyroid to dump more thyroid hormone into the blood stream than it does at other times. Also in cases of hypothalamic-pituitary- thyroid problems, or cases of "thyroid hormone resistance" at the tissue levels, fluctuating levels are possible.
