Mostly just words: Major depression is a diagnosis -symptoms that meet specific criteria. Mild means it is mild-not severe. Clinical depression is a term that means in actual fact you feel "depressed"-typically sad, hopeless, maybe some biological symptoms of sleep, appetite, energy and thinking problems -mild suggests that one is not suicidal.
