Infection: Infection in diverticulosis is called diverticulitis. This infection needs medical treatment with antibiotics to prevent complications. Usually need to be on a low fiber or light liquid diet during the infection treatment, avoid constipation. Later, when healed, should be on a high fiber diet with fruits & vegetables.

Low fiber.: If he has diverticulitis, he must follow a low fiber diet - very light with plenty of fluids. Once he's better, he must chronically maintain a high fiber diet, also with plenty of fluids.
