Not usually: Depending on the type of schizophrenia one can have disorganized thoughts, delusions, halluciantions and cognitive symptoms (difficulty with memory and understanding things). Medication can help somewhat but can have side effects which can further impair cognition. It is common for patients that first start having symptoms to do poorly in school and sometimes drop out.
