A member asked:

How does seroquel (quetiapine) work? it helps with mania, but what about the anxiety, depression and other symptoms of bipolar?

HELPS: With an expert diagnosis of bipolar, antipsychotic medications help but mediactions must be monitored and sometimes changed to prevent recurrance of symptoms. Psychotherapy will also help, but recurrance is to be expected and treated quickly.

It is best to discuss medication with your Psychiatrist who knows your medical history for a thorough evaluation and recommendations for treatment. If you are not confident with your Doctor please see another for a 2nd opinion. Have a physical exam to rule out illness and see a Clinical Psychologist with expertise in multiple forms of psychotherapy .
