A member asked:

I have been diagnosed with a chiari 1 malformation. what are my treatment options besides surgery.?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Options: Asymptomatic chiari malformations do not mandate surgery. Upper spinal cord/lower brainstem compression which is symptomatic is a solid surgical indication as is syringomyelia or hydrocephalus.
