How should hernia recovery look after the 4th day?

Clean, dry, intact: The wounds should be clean, dry, and intact...Meaning no drainage, discharge, significant redness, and the edges should still be well aligned. There may be some swelling and some pain, but it should not be getting significantly worse. Any questions, have the surgeon check it out.

Depends: Depends on whether the operation was done as an outpatient for a small hernia at the belly button or groin, or a large hernia of the abdominal wall, in which case one may still be in the hospital. Also depends on the technique of repair. Really need more info to answer properly. Call your surgeon if you are concerned.
