It's possible: Prolonged menstrual bleeding may result from a variety of reasons. Fibroids may be a cause of prolonged menses. Your age and medicall history are important in the evaluation. It definitely sounds like you need to have a gynecological evaluation, including possibly a pelvic ultrasound. See your doctor for a pap smear and pelvic exam as well as possibly blood tests if you are overdue for an exam.

Keep yr appointment.: You could have fibroids; they are a very common source of pronounced and prolonged bleeding. Other diseases could be responsible and further evaluation is needed.
