A member asked:

How are the pancreas and the bowels distinguished from each other?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

The GI tract: Starts at your throat, where the esophagus connects, then the stomach, 3 parts of small bowel, the large bowel, rectum and anus---one long tube, designed to take in food, digest it, absorb it, and eliminate what cannot be used. After the stomach, a connection squirts bile (from the liver) and pancreas juice to aid digestion. Pancreas also makes Insulin and other hormones.
