How can i tell if my child has heartburn?

Fussy with feeds: Baby may arch away from the nipple, burp a lot and become very fussy during or shortly after feeding.Unlike the baby who has mild reflux, will display marked discomfort when he/she spits up. If not attended baby may have increased risk for respiratory problems including ear infections.

GERD: Young infants can have gerd, or reflux of acid and food into the esophagus. This often causes spitting up, throwing up and pain with feeds. Older children can report pain over the upper abdomen, chest discomfort, or feeling like they have to throw up. Some will report having a bad acid taste in their throats. Make note of any pattern in the symptoms and consult your pediatrician.
