A member asked:

Will my baby's jitteriness go away on its own or that needs to be treated?

Usually goes away: Normal newborn jitteriness which is characterized by trembling with crying, usually goes away on its own by 1-2 months of age. Jitteriness that cannot be stopped by sucking or persists beyond 2 months of age could indicate abnormal jitteriness, in addition, newborns within the first 24 hours of life could have jitteriness due to hypoglycemia.

Usually goes away: The "jitteriness" seen in newborns is quite common and is related to their maturing nervous system. It typically does go away all by itself. If it persists for several months or you noticed changes in the baby's alertness associated with the jittery motions then you should ask your pediatrician about it.
