Start with gentle: Exercises of the hip & knee joints, to gradually increase the range of motion. Massage will also help along with pain meds like advil (ibuprofen) etc, . Pt with ultrasound will greatly improve as they can supervise the progress and catch problems earlier on, if any.

Can you play hockey with a lower hamstring strain? It feels good to me I've been stretching it a lot

Get yourself checked: By an orthopod, so your strain can be evaluated properly and treated. He/she will advise you appropriately, depending on how severe the problem is? Good luck.

How can I stretch out my torn hamstring?

Dr. David Trettin
Orthopedic Surgery 33 years experience
Rest first...: U want to rest a 'torn' hamstring first until it is nearly healed3-6 wks then can begin stretching : u can sit down and place your leg out straight , move your ankle back while u bend from the hip and touch your toes or heel. @ the same time u can have your opposite leg(knee) flexed to stretch your quads on other extremity. Maintain stretch and then switch sides... Best of luck!
