Dr. William Haynes answered

Specializes in Internal Medicine - Endocrinology

Various problems: Untreated diabetes with very high blood sugar can cause thirst, frequent urination, fatigue, weight loss, blurred vision and infections. After many years, diabetes can cause heart attack, stroke, amputation, foot ulcers, blindness, kidney failure/dialysis, and neuropathy. All the long-term effects can be prevented in part by good blood sugar, cholesterol and BP control.
