Unlikely: Surgical site infections have been a source of study for over 100 years. Floating particles are not a likely source of worry. Infection risk is determined by the type of surgery (colon is high risk, skin only is low risk), and these risks are reduced by aseptic technique and the timely use of prophylactic antibiotics. Other factors including tissue damage, t, oxygen may play roles in infections.
