Depends: It could simply be an area of increased pigmentation, like a freckle. I would recommend having your child examined by a pediatric ophthalmologist to be sure.

What does a brown spot on my white part of the eye mean?

Brown eyespots: Most spots on the whites of the eyes are due to pigmentary cells from embryonic development which produce such spots. These are common, have a much higher incidence in darker pigmented races, and are mostly benign. Rarely a spot might be a melanoma - watch for growth, discomfort and redness as clues to this.

Can be normal: Darker-skinned people often have areas of pigmentation on their conjunctiva (clear vascular layer over the white). This is normal. You may also have a benign area of degeneration called a pinguecula, which can be caused by sun, dust, and wind. Malignant brown spots on the white of the eye are rare and are usually found in patients much older than you, but if in doubt, get it checked out.

Dark spot in white part of eye..Does it go ?

Depends: A red blood spot will normally clear in days to a week. A darker pigmented spot is similar to a freckle and will stay. One can also get other spots like nevi (moles) or even cancers. Go see your eye md and have it looked at.

White spot: Based on the description, it sounds like you are having an issue in your cornea. This can be a sign of something serious so you need to see an eye doctor as soon as possible.
