It varies: Changes in vaginal ph (acid/base balance) can lead to bacterial vaginal infection. The ph of the vagina is normally 4 and the ph of menstrual blood is 7.4 which can lead to bacterial overgrowth. Using vaginal douches can also alter vaginal ph by removing lactabacilli, the organisms that fight off vaginal bacterial infection. The ph of semen is 8 which can also alter vaginal ph.

Vaginal infections: Some vaginal infections are; candida (yeast), trichomonas, chlamydia, & bacterial vaginosis. The last one is caused by several bacteria.
