Expert evaluation : Not a test generally. Most psychiatric disorders are diagnosed using an expert clinical evaluation by a board cert. Psychiatrist. (preferably). There are some screening tools or questionnaires but the real diagnosis needs an expert.

Clinical interview: combined with observation and possible input from others are used to make accurate diagnoses of bipolar disorder and depression. Psychological testing can assist with confirmation but is not diagnostic in and of itself. Recommend comprehensive evaluation by a psychiatrist or doctoral level clinical psychologist.
