Encourage you to: Start by seeing your physician if you haven't already done this. Your doctor can assess for a mood disorder but can also check for underlying medical conditions that may be the cause of your depressive symptoms. Talking therapy (such as cognitive behavioral therapy or insight oriented psychotherapy) is extremely important for lasting change. Psychiatric medications may be indicated. (cont'd).
