Depends: Depends completely upon the type of surgery anticipated. Understand, your terminology may be different than your surgeon's. Disc bulge, is not, in and of itself, an indication for surgery. A disc herniation with sciatica is—2-3 months before back to normal. Disk problem requiring fusion—3-6 months before back to normal. Plan on upper end of estimate for 2 levels.
