It is serious: The fertilized egg fails to reach the uterus and develops in the uterine tubes, where it does not have space to grow. It is a serious condition as it will rupture and necessitate emergent surgery.

Very serious: A ectopic pregnancy is an implantation anywhere outside the uterus (usually the fallopian tube). As the pregnancy grows, it can cause pain and eventually lead to the tube rupturing which is a serious emergency.
