No big deal.: I've had one myself, of course. I also perform a number of them every week, under sedation like propofol, with no discomfort for the patient. This is an invaluable screening tool for colon cancer, and should be a very simple, albeit inconvienant, experience for everyone.

Quite variable: Unless you opt not to have conscious sedation, you'll probably remember and feel little during the actual colonoscopy. Afterwards, you'll like have some element of mild abdominal discomfort and bloating related to residual gas in the colon. It may take several days for your bowel habit to return to normal after the aggressive clean out necessary prior to the colonoscopy.
