Short answer: This is a complex question, but short answer is legal abortion is generally very safe.The only clear risks are from complication (infection, perforation, etc...) of abortion, not abortion itself. There have been suggestions in the media such as that abortion 'might increase risk of breast cancer;' this is untrue and complete nonsense.
