Pollution : Not sure if it is true. However diesel smoke and increased particulate matter in breathing air - both associated with automobiles are known to cause lung disease. There is strong body of evidence that those living close to busy highways ; inner cities have higher burden of lung disease. These are due to air pollution due to automobile exhausts.
