Balance, as in life: Most nutrition experts advise a balanced diet for brain and body. If pregnant or breastfeeding, a woman who is a vegan should seek a referral to a registered dietitian to ensure adequate nourishment daily for herself and the baby. Yes and maybe: Yes- a vegan diet can be healthful because it can help avoid high fat and cholesterol of conventional diet, but a vegan diet must be carefully planned to avoid deficiencies of vit b12, calcium, omega-3's vit d, iron, zinc, vit b2 & iodine. Pregnant women on vegan diets must be particularly careful. Kids diets must be planned to make sure they get all essential fatty acids and vitamins.
