Vertigo: A hot shower can cause vertigo simply by changing the temperature in your ear canals. This is the same principle we use when we do caloric testing of the inner ears (semi-circular canals). We raise and lower the temperature of the ear canals and this translates into raising or lowering the temperature of the inner ears. This temperature change causes inner fluids to move which can cause vertigo.
