What might i do to handle my mental illness at work?

Talk to doc: Better overall symptom reduction, in general, would help. Perhaps your doctor can adjust your treatment to alleviate some of your overwhelming symptoms (?). Also, your employer might be willing to alter your work environment or duties in such a way that would minimize triggers. Talk therapies such as cbt can help change thought patterns that make us more vulnerable to strong mood reactions.

A little puzzling?: You didn't say what kind of mental illness you have, or what symptoms give you the most trouble -- but i agree with dr. Nasky's ideas about overall symptom reduction. This would give you the most freedom to be who you are and do your best work. Talk therapy will help you develop ideas for your specific situation. If your psychiatrist doesn't do talk therapy, work with a psychologist too.
