Why a stigma?: You are you, not your diagnosis. Many people who are bipolar are also incredibly talented. Did you know that a number of our most famous comedians have bipolar disorder? Also some of our most illustrious artists. Focus on your gifts, not the illness. One of your positive qualities, is the intensity of your emotions. Use that quality to create strong relations and things of beauty.

It will get worse: My prediction and you can take it for what it's worth is that stigmatizing all mental health issues will get worse, far before it gets any better. The new healthcare laws are also going to contribute here by rationing therapy and pushing pills to manage illnesses such as bipolar disorders. Sorry but this is my view.
