VARIABLE: Distinguish between severe depression and a terminal illness with pain that cannot be controlled. If symptoms caused by illness are unrelentless in spite of rigorous attempts to control them, avoiding extreme suffering is understandable. However, examination, evaluation, and reasonable lack of hope of relief should preceed a decision.

Each person has : Their own view. There is no "one" opinion in the medical community. However, many physicians view it as a violation of the tenant of protecting life and first causing no harm.
