PHN: If you experience intense pain along the location you recently had singles, it's unlikely to be from another shingles outbreak. This is more likely from post-herpetic neuralgia, a painful condition involving the recently shingled nerve(s). The pain can last weeks to months. Good news is both topical & oral medications are available for treatment of phn. Recommend a shingles vaccine also.
