Mycoplasma: Mycoplasma hominis primarily infects the genital tract, although infections of other organs such as the lungs and heart have been described. Mycoplasma hominis can also be transmitted to neonate during birth and may cause systemic infections. The mycoplasma that affects the lungs most often is mycoplasma pneumoniae.
