Geographic tongue : Geographic tongue changes appearance of tongue. It appears to be familial, and presumably hereditary. It is not dangerous, just somewhat unsightly if you show it off.

Geographic Tongue: The name erythema migrans or geographic tongue describes exactly what you are saying & why we call it that - the patterns constantly move around & that's why they look different every day. No need to treat unless painful. We believe it is autoimmune but do not know for sure & stress seems to make it move more but not hurt. No hereditary factors seem to be invloved but honestly we do not know.
